The nominations for the DEN Award 2023 are in! The DEN Award is the award for the most courageous digital experiment to reach new audiences. During the DEN conference, we are presenting the Award for the first time. Curious who the winner is?

Across the entire sector, we see wonderful initiatives. It's high time for a DEN Award to bring such initiatives to the spotlight! Out of all the inspiring submissions, 5 nominees have been selected. Check them out below.

Congratulations! Streaming the Past by VALUE Foundation (opens in new tab) is the winner of the DEN Award!

Streaming the past is a bold initiative. VALUE Foundation streams while playing historical games. This allows scientists and gamers to engage in conversations with each other. They bridge the gap between these two worlds. We are impressed by the surprising use of the medium of games. The aim is to both have fun together and engage in serious discussions about the past. Truly an innovative way to involve new audiences and provide an experience.

    Streaming the past (opens in new tab) by the VALUE Foundation is a bold initiative. In a playful way, gamers are involved in heritage and scientists in gaming. We are impressed by the surprising use of the medium of games. The aim is to both have fun together and engage in serious discussions about the past. Truly an innovative way to involve new audiences and provide an experience.

  2. CODEkADE

    Kade40 developed CODEkADE (opens in new tab), a technology festival in the classroom. With this program for schools, children learn about media art. This is a bold initiative because it uses various forms that challenge children to look at art, technology, and media differently.

  3. Another kind of blue

    Another kind of blue (opens in new tab) creates art at the intersection of technology, dance, and music. They continue to experiment and innovate with different presentation forms. This is a bold initiative because they dare to deviate from the beaten path to create new art forms that surprise the audience.

  4. Accessibility videos Utrecht Marketing

    By collaborating with various partners and people with low stimulus tolerance, Utrecht Marketing (opens in new tab) took the bold initiative to create accessibility videos. They contribute to a more accessible cultural sector by helping people prepare for outings, making cultural visits much less stressful for this target group.

  5. Treasure Rooms VR game Erfgoed Gelderland

    A bold initiative by Erfgoed Gelderland (opens in new tab) by choosing a surprising medium: a VR Game. The technology behind it is innovative, and they successfully engage a younger audience in nearby museums. A strong example of regional collaboration in the digital field.
