A starting organisation: your next steps
Your organisation is at the outset of the process of digital transformation. How can you make sure that everyone in the organisation starts talking the same language, so that you can get off to a well-prepared start to digital transformation? Where do you begin? Find out on this page.

Your organisation is starting
Your organisation is in the first phase of digital transformation. Take an inquisitive attitude, and start getting the organisation ready and willing to engage with digital transformation. Obtain knowledge about digital transformation and innovation, and find inspiration in other organisations. This not only helps you to determine the ambition level that appeals to you, but you also start developing a shared language throughout the organisation so that everyone becomes a part of the digital transformation. At the same time you can actually get started by launching specific actions. A digital strategy can help you here. The information below will help you further with respect to the five components of the scan.
Component 1: Strategy and budget
What is digital transformation, and how do you take the first step? Obtain knowledge about digital transformation and technology through online research, by following relevant training courses and attending conventions or network events. Consider the priorities in your budget allocation so that you can make budget available for digital initiatives. Work on your vision, integrating the challenges and opportunities of digital transformation. Involve your co-workers and draw up a plan as to how you can actively communicate your vision and strategy towards the public and stakeholders, for instance through newsletters and social media channels.
Component 2: Culture and competencies
You can’t be an innovative organisation all by yourself. Map out which digital knowledge and competencies you think you will need. Connect your organisation with talents in the field of IT, digital marketing and digital leadership. Alternatively, explore whether any of your current co-workers have or can develop such (hidden) talents.
Component 3: Audience and Value
How do you create value for a changing audience? Explore the audience of the future, and ask yourself which digital projects you could initiate with a view to this audience. Find inspiration in existing examples and reports about the audience of the future. Incorporate the new knowledge of the audience of the future in your vision and strategy.
Component 4: Data and technology
Digital transformation assumes a number of basic conditions. Study the relevant laws and regulations that your new initiatives must comply with, for instance in the fields of copyright, privacy law and cyber security. Use data and measurement results in your decision-making. Use the resulting data and insights in your discussions within the organisation about digital transformation, and for decision-making.
Component 5: Processes and structure
Examine your current organisation culture: it is sufficiently flexible to achieve your digital ambitions? Also examine peer organisations: find inspiration in case examples and lessons learned in the field of collaboration and digital initiatives or services (digital first).

Monitor your progress
The information on this page will help you make a next step in digital transformation. But what is the impact of your efforts? Save the results of the Digital Transformation Scan and monitor your activities. Perform the scan again in 6 or 12 months from now to see the progress achieved by your organisation.
