A connecting organisation: your next steps

You are a connecting organisation. You are on your way towards a strategy-driven organisation in which all activities and new projects are connected with the organisation’s vision and strategy. Curious to know what further steps you can take? Find out on this page.

You are a connecting organisation

Your organisation is in the fourth phase of digital transformation. Invest in an agile organisation so that you can respond increasingly effectively to visitors’ changing wishes and new digital developments. Working towards integrality and measurability is an important step in this phase. You can do so by making your digital ambitions part of the organisation strategy and by developing a method to measure the results. One option is to work with dashboards

Component 1: Strategy and budget

Make digital initiatives a part of the organisation goals. Continually stimulate and facilitate new digital projects and test these against your strategy. Additionally, develop a method to evaluate the digital initiatives: test both the process and the outcomes against your strategy. Make sure to have sufficient budget structurally available to achieve the digital goals; outside funds and subsidies can contribute.

Component 2: Culture and competencies

Digital transformation requires an innovative organisation culture. You can enhance this culture through iterative working methods, through room to develop new ideas, through collaboration and open communication. Reinforce the learning organisation by stimulating and facilitating learning and development and by adding new competencies to the organisation through job vacancies. You should also invest in facilities for online collaboration between departments and teams and with other organisations.

Component 3: Audience and Value

What added value do you aim to achieve through your digital strategy? Invest in systematic collaboration with organisations within and outside the sector that add value to your digital ambitions and for the audience of the future.

Component 4: Data and technology

Data is most effective when understood by all. Make sure that insights generated through audience and organisation data analyses are widely available throughout the organisation, for instance by means of dashboards.

Component 5: Processes and structure

Reinforce co-creation by bringing together IT and other organisation units in multidisciplinary project teams. If you lack certain knowledge in-house, then work with internal colleagues and external partners. Systematically build an online community to share knowledge and create opportunities for collaboration.
