5 years of DEN Academy – and now a community
Five years ago, DEN started the Digital Leadership Program. This program quickly evolved into the DEN Academy with workshops, learning programs, and e-learnings for the entire sector. What repeatedly became evident: the meetings and conversations between participants were invaluable.
Many professionals asked for:
- more contact with colleagues in the sector,
- more knowledge sharing about digital projects,
- better insight into who is working on digital transformation.
The DEN Community is the logical next step: a place where this exchange can happen every day.
'With the DEN Community platform, we have a new space where cultural professionals can exchange knowledge and inspire each other in digital transformation at their own time and pace.'
The core team of the DEN Community
To give the community a flying start, DEN assembled a core team in 2024 of experienced professionals from the cultural sector. They share their knowledge and experiences, provide weekly inspiration, and stimulate interaction on the platform.

The core team consists of:
- Erik van Vliet – Advisor/Project Leader Interactive Media & Audience, Erfgoed Gelderland
- Thijs Wesselink – Project Leader Digital Innovation, Groninger Museum
- Alyssa Mahler – Project Manager creativefunding, Voordekunst
- Loes Hoogeboom – Data Specialist, freelance
- Marjolein Beumer – Head of University Library, Tilburg University
- Bud Scheffer – Head of ICT, Boijmans van Beuningen
- Bert Mennings – Director, Limburgs Museum
- Wilja Jurg - Director/Manager, Tetem Art Space
What can you find in the DEN Community?
- Weekly updates from the core team about AI, digital strategy, innovation, standardization, and data.
- Engage in discussions and share knowledge with other professionals from the cultural sector.
- Announcements of events – online and live – with themes proposed by the community itself.

The second DEN Community meet-up is coming!
The date for the second DEN Community meet-up is already set! On March 19, cultural professionals will come together again to brainstorm, share knowledge, and get inspired on the theme of cybersecurity.
We will start the afternoon with a networking lunch, followed by various professionals from the sector sharing their inspiring experiences with cyber resilience. After that, there will be an open-space session where participants can present their own challenges.
Will we see you there? Sign up via the registration form for the community meet-up on March 19.
