June 12, 2023 - The Principles for Cultural Subsidies 2025-2028 (opens in new tab) were presented on Friday, June 16, 2023, by the Ministry of Education, Culture & Science (OCW). The principles explicitly emphasize the importance of digital transformation in the sector.
“To find, connect with, and captivate the audience of the future, it is essential that cultural organizations take steps to initiate digital transformation. It is very positive that the State Secretary also recognizes this importance and underscores it in the Principles for Cultural Subsidies 2025-2028. At DEN, as an independent knowledge institute, we help organizations make this transformation manageable for the period 2025-2028,” says Maaike Verberk, director of DEN.
By providing practical tools, capacity building, and a broad network, we can unburden and inspire the sector to truly seize the opportunities offered by digital innovation.
Get started with these tools
DEN launches the following new tools that organizations can use independently:
- Digital Transformation Scan (opens in new tab): this self-scan for organizations is specifically developed for the cultural sector and provides insight into which phase organizations are in their digital development. The outcome includes concrete next steps and inspiration, forming the basis for a digital strategy.
- Self-Study Module Digital Strategy: (opens in new tab) with this 5-step plan, organizations can immediately and concretely work on developing a digital strategy.
What to expect from DEN
Additionally, digitization provides unique opportunities for cultural organizations to address challenges in other important areas such as accessibility and sustainability. What can be expected from DEN in this regard:
- Knowledge sharing and accessibility action plan with digital: (opens in new tab) this knowledge helps organizations improve their accessibility. A concrete action plan will be developed to make websites, apps, PDFs, and forms accessible. An important step to comply with the digital accessibility law.
