Data-driven thinking provides insight into your audience. Using data, you can determine who your target audience is, how to better serve them, or who you could potentially reach further. DEN is convinced of the added value of a data-driven approach in culture. We see how offerings in other sectors are increasingly tailored to target groups and how data strengthens interaction and connections with contacts. To work with data responsibly and effectively, standardization and collaboration are essential. We are therefore pleased with the international attention to this theme during the EU conference on February 8 and 9.
About the conference
With the title 'Empowering the Cultural and Creative Sectors in Data-driven Audience Development’, Brussels highlights the importance of audience data on an international level. By working in a data-driven way, cultural organizations can increase audience participation and attract new audiences. During the two-day conference, digital transformation in the cultural and creative sector will be explored in depth, with special attention to audience engagement and involvement. Topics covered include: policy proposals, ethical frameworks, digital opportunities, and international collaboration around audience data. The goal is to open the conversation, share knowledge, and progress together.
Contributions from DEN and Taskforce Audience Data
DEN and the Taskforce Audience Data have been advocating for the broader use of audience data by and for cultural organizations for several years. During the European conference, we will share this vision in various contributions:
- Maaike Verberk (Director of DEN and Chair of Taskforce Audience Data) speaks about the role of digital leadership
- Joep Grooteman (Director of DIP and member of the Taskforce Audience Data) discusses the potential of audience data in practice
