Annual Reports
DEN follows the Governance Code Culture and publishes the latest substantive and financial annual reports. Here you can find all annual reports from 2015.
2025
In 2024, DEN celebrated its 25th anniversary. In this jubilee year, we further grew in our role as a national knowledge institute for digital transformation in the cultural sector. The Ministry of Education, Culture, and Science (OCW) confirmed our mission, and the positive advice of the Council for Culture on our Policy Plan 2025–2028 underscored confidence in our direction. With this foundation, we were able to further develop and expand our existing services with new knowledge, themes, and tools. At the same time, due to the tight labor market, the intended growth scenario of the organization remained a challenge, and the team has not yet reached the desired strength. With the Digital Transformation Scan, we collect valuable data on the digital maturity in the sector and increase the impact of our activities. DEN is developing into a strategic connector, with the goal of a future-proof cultural and creative sector where culture is accessible to everyone and remains so.

Governance Code Culture
The Governance Code Culture (GCC) is a tool for good governance, adequate supervision, and transparent accountability. DEN follows this code, and our Supervisory Board uses it as a guiding tool for oversight. The director and Supervisory Board embed the principles of the GCC in the organization and reflect on them in the management report, which is published as part of the annual report on this page.
In addition to the Governance Code Culture, we have a management and supervisory board regulation. This ensures that the roles of director and supervisor are used to serve the organization's interests. The organization can call on their advisory role. View the profile of our Supervisory Board or the current Supervisory Board members on our team page.
All activities of DEN serve our social goal and vision, namely ‘By making the most of the opportunities of the digital society, the cultural sector ensures that culture is always and everywhere around us, and everyone can create, share, and experience culture.’ The principle of socially responsible entrepreneurship is inherent in DEN's mission and activities.
Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility
DEN is committed to the Code Diversity & Inclusion. We want culture to always be everywhere and for everyone. Also, within our own services and organization, we strive for diversity, inclusion, and accessibility:
- Program: Digital transformation and the use of digital technologies contribute in various ways to the accessibility of culture. DEN shares knowledge and organizes activities on this subject to introduce cultural organizations to / inspire them about these possibilities.
- Partners: DEN works with a flexible network, both inside and outside our network. We also choose collaboration partners who bring new perspectives to our approach. This creates valuable exchanges of knowledge, experience, and background.
- Staff: DEN aspires to be a more inclusive organization. We are taking steps to make our team more inclusive, such as posting job vacancies with specialized agencies. In the recruitment and selection process for the Supervisory Board, diversity and inclusion also play a clear role, and DEN invites candidates who enhance the diversity of our organization.
- Audience: We want all information on our website to be findable and accessible to everyone. With periodic user tests and continuous development, we are constantly working to make our information and services more accessible. Read more about the accessibility of our website. When writing texts, we follow the guidelines 'Values for a New Language' by LKCA and guidelines 'Words Matter' by Wereldmuseum.
Fair Practice Code
DEN endorses the Fair Practice Code. Our employees (permanent and flexible), trainers, and interns receive fair compensation. DEN follows the Collective Labor Agreement for Research Institutions. We handle third-party copyrights carefully and publish ourselves (where possible) under a Creative Commons license. We work on the sustainable employability of employees and offer a generous training budget (4%). We are committed to a safe working environment, with an external confidential advisor, company doctor, and complaints procedure. We continuously raise awareness on these topics with team training on, for example, conduct and integrity. This increases the visibility of the confidential advisor and lowers the threshold for both employees and the Supervisory Board.
