Digital Heritage: A Webinar Series for Small Organizations (by ANA NDE & DEN)

How can heritage be made digitally accessible to a broad audience? What are the possibilities for (very) small heritage organizations in terms of digitization, digital storytelling, and online public engagement?

During two webinars, you will discover inspiring examples of digital storytelling, discuss technical approaches, and learn how collaboration is beneficial to making heritage accessible online.There will also be opportunities to ask questions and connect with other professionals from small heritage organizations across the kingdom.

Do you work for a small heritage organization and want to learn more about digitally unlocking heritage? Then these two sessions are for you! You will be inspired and see what’s possible, even with limited resources or capacity.

These webinars are a collaboration between Archivo Nacional Aruba, one of the founding partners of Coleccion Aruba, Netwerk Digitaal Erfgoed and DEN, the knowledge institute for culture & digital transformation. The webinars are in English, but feel free to ask your questions in English, Dutch or Papiamento/Papiamentu.

Webinar 1- February 19, 2025

Sharing Stories, Experiencing Heritage: Accessible Tools for Online Storytelling

In the first webinar, we’ll explore examples of online storytelling with digital heritage. You’ll see how to create inspiring digital presentations in simple ways.

Collaboration is especially valuable for small heritage organizations in achieving digital ambitions. Shakira Croes from Archivo Nacional Aruba / Coleccion Aruba will tell us how over ten organizations work together to make heritage digitally accessible.

The next speaker is Johny van Eerden, Digital Accessibility and Digital Preservation professional at Archivo Nacional Aruba. He works He works alongside other professionals from partner institutions on Coleccion Aruba, a collaboration between more than ten organizations to digitally unlock archives and other heritage.

In addition to an inspiring presentation, you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions. What are your ambitions for online storytelling? Learn from each other and from the experiences of Archivo Nacional Aruba/ Coleccion Aruba, Netwerk Digitaal Erfgoed, and DEN, the knowledge institute for culture & digital transformation.

Webinar 2 – April 23, 2025

From Preservation to Access: Approaches to unlock digital heritage

In the second webinar, we’ll dive into the process of digitally unlocking and connecting heritage. How can you approach this? Johny van Eerden, Digital Accessibility and Digital Preservation Professional at the Archivo Nacional of Aruba, will share hist insights in which tools and facilities could be used.

Furthermore, you’ll hear about various collaborations and networks in the field of digital heritage across the Kingdom of the Netherlands. You’ll know exactly who to turn to with questions and what opportunities exist for collaboration. Attendees will include the quartermaster for the Dutch Caribbean Digital Heritage Network, the network coordinator of Netwerk Digitaal Erfgoed, and an advisor from DEN, the knowledge institute for culture & digital transformation.
